Battle Forms
Each Participant will have the opportunity to perform in front of the judges a form that represents themselves. The IMPACT Martial Arts League Twist is that it is a battle between one (1) participant from each team competing against each other for the win. Based on a coin flip, a team will send up one player to compete. The other team will match with their own opponent. The next battle match participant will be chosen first by the other team and the other team matches (and so on until no more participants are left.)
The Form:
- Each participant will preform one (1) form – it can be a personal or system related form.
- There are no requirements on salutation, salute, or bowing at the beginning or end.
- Participant must wait for the Judges before beginning.
- Participant must announce their team name and their name. No form names are required.
- The head judge will signify the opportunity to start.
- The participant will have a maximum of three (3) minutes to perform their form. There is no penalty for less time.
- No weapons will be allowed (1/20/2024).
- There are five (5) required elements in the form:
- Three (3) second balance (single foot and/or single hand on ground)
- High Kick (must be above waist when kick is done)
- Three (3) or more move combination (must flow with no breaks)
- At least one ground move (something other than feet touching the ground)
- Aerial move (nothing touching the ground – must change direction and/or have forward momentum
- There are three (3) subjective elements to keep in mind:
- Principle of Motion
- Posture – To have your skeletal structure carry the weight of your body.
- Balance – Center of Gravity of the Earth – which may occur statically or dynamically.
- Relaxation – To free your body, mind and breath from unnecessary tension.
- Speed – Perceptual, Mental, and Physical quickness.
- Angles – The figure formed by two straight lines meeting on your body. (The upper arm and the lower arm. The upper leg and the lower leg. The arm and the torso. The arm and the leg. The hand and the arm. The foot and the leg)
- Body Alignment – Adjusting the Angles of your body to promote Back-Up Mass.
- Economy of Motion – To choose the best Target, choose the best Weapon, and choose the best Angle in the least amount of time and still get the desired results.
- Timing – The measure of the duration of an individual move or the duration between moves.
- Coordination – To synchronize body, mind, and breath.
- Focus – To concentrate: body, mind, and breath.
- Power – To realize body, mind, and breath as a single

- Principle of Motion
- If a participant can not perform for whatever reason, then the alternate must be used throughout this event. The alternate will receive the individual points awarded.
- If the alternate is not available or has already been used to replace another individual for this event, then this match will be awarded to the other team. “Default Win”
- if neither team has a participant to perform then no individual or team score will be awarded. “No Winner” will be declared.
Judging:
- There will be a three (3) judges sitting at the top of the ring.
- The judges will not use preconceived expectations of forms/sets/movement even if they are familiar with the form or style the participant does.
- One Judge will be responsible for required elements and will notify judges if there is a missing element.
- The head judge will be the final say on fouls, disqualifications, points, or penalties.
Placement:
- Comparison Judging will be used
- Judges will vote with eyes closed which participant wins the forms battle match.
- If there are less than three (3) judges, then the judges will conference to determine the winner.
Scoring:
- Individual Scores:
- All participants that perform will get one (1) individual point
- Each match winner will get an additional three (3) individual points
- Team Scores. Total of all individuals that perform will be added together to form the team points.
